Connect with The Tea Party!
I have had about all the "opinions" that I can take. In nature for every action there is a reaction. For every opinion there will be a different opinion. Teabook will lose not gain members by inviting open rebuttles on there sites. We must be the voice of reality, the voice of truth and the voice of factual information so that all those voices that reflect different opinions can decide for themselves what is wrong or write about what is happening to our country. Thats what "Freedom" is all about. From the truth comes true results. Common sense is such an important human asset I wonder why it has become so "uncommon"? Could it be that we have become brainwashed into putting our faith in others and becoming to lazy to find out the real facts and make our own decisions that effect our lives? Our Constitution already gives us the standards we are to live by. I don't know anyone smart enough to come up with a better system.

Which of the rebuttals are you speaking of? Your rebuttal or the rebuttal of others? You say you're tired of all the opinions, but you just stated yours.
You are right. We all have the freedom to state our opinions. However, when confronted openly with falsehoods or unwarranted slander, then someone needs to stand up and protest and state the facts. If you let the lie go unchallenged long enough, then the lie becomes the accepted "truth."
Somehow, we have gotten it in our heads that friction is bad. It is friction that causes your tire against road to propels the vehicle forward. It's the friction of the knife against the sharpening stone that keeps the blade honed. Typically, when I rebut someone, I am careful not to make it a personal attack, but to show weakness or falsehood in the stated opinion. However, when a discussion participant begins attacking individuals personally, I think it is not only warranted, but demanded, that we take corrective action.
Inasmuch as this is an opinion and discussion site, it wouldn't have a lot of purpose should we forbid the expression of opinion. It is the sharing of opinions, facts, history and relevant thought that helps each of us take our thinking to the next level, to understand the issues better, and to deal with actual problems ... not the symptoms of the problems.
Let me give you an example. When we single our special rights and privileges for the homosexual community, are we not also obligated to carve out special rights for the adulterous community or the bestiality community? The problem is, we are dealing with a symptom of which class should get which protections. The constitution grants no such powers to the federal government in any way, shape or form. That's the problem. Special privileges for this community or that community is the symptom of the problem.
It is those determinate skills that the Tea Party community is trying to hone, and that via discussion, opinion, and at times, even friction. But as the old saying goes, "Steel sharpens steel."
Actually I believe you are quoting Prov. 27:17 which states "As Iron sharpens iron; So a man sharpens the coutenance of his friend.
Also in reply to the original post by Mr. Burnette, we have freedom of speech in the Constitution you mentioned. Although someones opinion we may disagree with, we can look at things from another angle, as I am sure you like me, do not know everything.
Permalink Reply by James V. Burnette on December 12, 2010 at 4:52pm I got the exact response I was looking for. Someone that understands what we are dealing with. You cannot stop freedom of speach or freedom of opinions or at least you can't right now. If we allow the forces in power in our present administration to have their way we will loose those freedoms. Freedom of speach or opinion should never be stopped or hindered. When I said I was getting tired of hearing opinions what I was really getting at was to say we must have a way to filter the bad from the good. The Internet has opened up an avalanche of people's opinions and by doing so we are held back from moving forward on real solutions to our problems. The information age has brought us a new problem to deal with.
