I find it difficult to find how many people are for abortion. It is truly shocking.  It's superficial and definitely is not part of God's plan for humanity. I understand that other countries actively practice this horrific "medical" procedure.
I just want to reaffirm that I stand with you and the organizations that protect and fight for the unborn.
I have one reservation, however, that being the victims of rape, incest, or other criminal acts that result in pregnancy.  I have been asked about this numerous times. Here is my primary response:
In this type of unfortunate circumstance, there should be someone to assure the child is saved and given to folks who need, want, or cannot have children of their own.  In conjunction with this, there is the adoption process which is so complicated, ineffective, and basically an obstacle to truly saving the lives of born and unborn children.
In most cases that I have experienced, the adoption agency require better conditions than most average families can provide. I understand that zealousness is important, but sometimes noble ideals and principles do stand as obstacles to both perspective parents and for children awaiting adoption.
My wife and I for example, are discouraged from adoption because I'm a 100% disabled veteran and our finances are below an established standard.
We have successfully raised two children, with one in college, and they never wanted for anything.  So, to rephrase, the standards for adoption in many cases are too stringent and the process filled with obstacles, discouragement, and even opposition.  One remark I have heard frequently from folks with children, is that the child to be adopted must receive better treatment and care than their own children.
The Foster care program, initially, was a wonderful program, as were many when first conceived and instituted. However, that program too has more problems that should ever have arisen.  It seems the bottom line for both parties today is centered around money.  Adoption costs very much as does the Foster program. Somewhere along the way, the true interest of the children has been sacrificed for the bottom line.  Home receive funding based on numbers.  Adoption organizations also center around money - money that goes to a great diversity of people.  Why does everything in our society have to be about money?
I have personally know so very many good Christian, hard working, honest, loving folks that were denied adoption.  The system is broken.  Stopping abortion is but one of many steps needed to fix a problem that grows more complex and far reaching ever day.
I would like to hear comments and real answers for these issues as well.  In the interim, you have my full support, and I want to thank all of you for taking a stance, the right stance, for the sanctity and miracle of life.  Let's not blanket theses issues with ambiguous legislation, or sweep them under the rug for the next generation to deal with.
We need a lot of internal fixing, most of which folks are willing to help to the utmost to bring about solutions.  Lets keep the answers, the needs of folks, and the decision making process simple - my grandmother said to keep things simple and the rest will fall in place.  I still believe that is the best outlook for our nation and a philosophy that opens the doors to love, caring, and people taking care of people.
Let us all think about this before charging into reflex legislation and further complicating the entire picture.  There must be a way to solve one issue without stressing an already taxed system, a system that has lost the mark.
