Wendy Long Receives Conservative Party Endorsement

The Conservative Party State Committee met on March 19 in NYC to nominate a candidate for U. S. Senate and overwhelmingly (91%, 5%  4%)  endorsed Wendy Long as their candidate.  In fact, a motion was made after the voting, to make it unaninous!  Kudos to Wendy Long, now on to winning the Republican primary on June 26 and victory on November 6, 2012.

American Energy

Not so Bleak with Natural Gas.  http://energycitizens.org/ec/advocacy/wire.aspx

It’s the middle of winter, and you may have noticed that your heating bill is a bit lower this year than last. You can thank the increased production of natural gas, which

according to the attached article, is partly responsible for the lower home heating costs.  Unfortunately, shale gas from New York isn’t contributing to the U.S.’s natural gas boom. The Department of Environmental Conservation is still moving slowly on the issue of hydraulic fracturing in the state, so New York is losing out on the jobs and economic growth that natural gas development brings. We encourage the governor to go beyond the rhetoric and read a recent column published in the New York Post that lays out a few facts about the benefits of hydraulic fracturing.  The U.S. resurgence in natural gas production has created jobs and lowered home heating costs. Energy Citizens know the benefits of gas development, and it’s too bad New York’s policymakers are so slow to face the facts on this issue.

NY Fracking Bans put Opportunity at Risk - America needs the Energy

i hope you will become active at

http://energycitizens.org/ec/advocacy/wire.aspx

New York’s recent court decision that upholds the rights of municipalities to prohibit natural gas development shows the need for increased energy citizenship and activism in New York state.  These court decisions allow local politicians to override property rights and pre-empt state law, and if allowed to stand they will pose a major threat to future energy development in the Empire State.  A detailed post at the Energy In Depth blog explains the flaws in these decisions and why they are likely to be overturned.  These bans are clearly a result of opposition to common sense energy policy in New York. That’s why it’s important that Energy Citizens like you stay active and speak out for energy investment in the state.  Other states have shown that natural gas development (and the economic growth it brings) can go hand-in-hand with environmental protection.  The misinformation about natural gas drilling prevalent in New York needs to be counteracted.  It’s up to Energy Citizens like you to tell the truth about this important issue.
