When I was a police officer, all the laws were in place to remove illegals from our state. According to my friends who are still in the profession, it is the failure of the Feds to pick these people up that is the problem. I have arrested many for being illegal and the INS would pick them up at the jail and take them back to Mexico. They just won't do it anymore. I agree that English is the only language we should have as a requirement in our schools, workplaces, businesses or anywhere in the USA. We should all start ringing our legislators phones and demanding this.

Question: If, in the State of Texas, I have the legal right to protect myself, others as well as my property from ANYONE who chooses to do harm, why on earth is it illegal for the State of Texas to protect its own borders? Why is my yard, car, house, etc., a place where I can determine a threat and act on same without threat of prosecution, when my larger home, the State of Texas, is not? I do not for one minute believe that the US Government has any constitutional right to dictate how or when I protect my home whether it be my yard and house, or my state. A person doing illegal things at my home (whether a citizen or not) is subject to my personal sense of being threatened. An illegal allien, however, is not treated the same as any other criminal. Someone please tell me this makes sense so I can just go along my merry way in complete oblivion.

what you stated does not make a lick of sense. we as texans need to take a stand ,and encourage our congress,and
senate to pass strict law's against illegal's. They should be made to show evidence such as birth certifacates,green card's social security number's to recieve food stamp's, housing,and medicaid,Should they break the law, then send them back to their country,and let them pay for keeping that person incarcerated. As for me,and my family we will protect ourselves.We as Texans need to protect our home state by having strict law's passed, or we will lose our way of life that our ancestor's fought ,and died for.

Just to take this conversation, brain storm, etc., one more step. If the statements in my first reply are true, then we as individual citizens are the ONLY line of defense against illegals in this country. There is no one to pass the ball to. There are no magic spells, there is only US. We can't just all agree its a dangerous situation and leave it at that. Sometimes I think we are spending way too much time preaching to the choir. I would love to know what type of action individuals of all the states are doing to assist Arizona. Lip service ain't gonna do it. We hear of cities, companies, some states, etc., boycotting Arizona. OK...we also hear that over 60% of the US population agrees with Arizona. Big deal. The only way that 60% is going to be anything other than a statistic is to unite. A 2 second blip on the news doesn't do a damned thing. I have tried to keep up on what various Tea Parties are doing and have yet to see a concerted effort by any organization to openly and publicly support Governor Brewer. I may be totally wrong here, and I hope I am. Signing petitions is great, it takes a couple of minutes but I have never seen any results from those endless petitions I have signed. I would love to see Tea Parties set up some sort of convention, meetings, etc., in Arizona. I believe we should create a list of all entities that have boycotted Arizona so that we can target and boycott in return. The so called 60% has to step up to the plate and be willing to put action where there mouths are. Trying to beat this encroaching tidal wave of illegals and the influence they have on our homeland must also be done at the polls. Please inform me if you have heard any senatorial or legislative candidate talk about this. Wait......Senator Kyle of Arizona just stated Obama said he would not secure the border because then there wouldn't be any need for comprehensive immigration reform.....Hmmmmm. The agenda is becoming clearer and clearer. The 60% had better get busy.

Ginny i agree with you 100%I too am looking for a organization that is commited to our cause,and that is why my family, friend's, aquaitences ,and I am willing to do what it takes to protect our homeland.
There are so many wealthy people who want the illegal's here because they work cheap,and peddle drug's for them, which effect's our economy, and if they get thrown in jail here, it is a piece of cake to them,heck we pay them to be incarcerated! There is a war here in our country that we American's are going to have to be prepared to face, and I do not believe our politician's are going to do a thing about it, unless we force their hand.
We may be the minority in population but we do have the right to vote,and the illegal'a don't. Therefore we have the last word.
Here is a parrable for you. If every legal citizen would refuse to pay taxes for one day or even a week, they would soon leave our country, there would be no more free ride, of course we would be thrown in prison,while the illegal's walked away, but at least we would'nt be feeding their fat belly's. Oh by the way, I do believe there was a little war fought in 1776 to gain our freedom from tyrany, over taxation,and Thomason Jefferson cast the last vote that English was to be the primary language in our country
I do know that in several southern states their is a movement to boycot spanish in all goverment funded building's. ln Oklahoma only English is spoken in all state building's this includes the schools,and if your not There legally they will deport you. There was a raid in Ardmore, and Thackerville about 5 yr's ago and they deported 500 mexican's,and passed strict law's, oklahoma is only around 30 miles north from where I live in Texas, so why can't we have the same law's here.
I am personally going to the school superentendent here,and if he refuses to let my daughter ,and myself be a room mother because we are not bilingual, I am going to press charges against the school, and then I am going to the tax board, an refuse to pay school taxes on a school where my grandchildren cannot understand the language,therefore not recieving the education they deserve.

We as Texan's need to encourage businesses to post sign's stating English only spoken here, petition our school"s to teach english to our children,and grandchildren. i had a discussion with a principal here in North Texas in a small school advertising for student's to transfer to their school, where English was being taught as a secondary language.He stated i should except the fact that 50% of Tx. was hispanic, and that spanish was our future language.Needless to say,I told him my grandchildren would not attend his school. Why should we pay taxes when our children, and grandchildren can't understand the language, and the illegals get a free ride,with food stamp's,medicaid,and housing

Undocumented aliens make it hard on legal residents and those who would choose to become legal. The president of Mexico denounces Arizona and the Unites States while getting a standing ovation by the Democrats in joint session. Not having English as the national language costs millions! I don't mind learning to speak Spanish; however I resent feeling pressured to learn Spanish. We as Texans need to let businesses know that we will NOT use their service if they hire day labor or illegal aliens. As consumers there are built-in methods in our society for us to pressure educational entities and businesses to restrict services and hiring of illegal aliens. Lately I am seeing more ads for employment that stress that you must speak and write English fluently to apply. So, no fear, just get on board and let them know what you think! You may find that you are the one to get it started but you will not be alone for very long! As Texans, we need to be contacting our representatives constantly and letting Austin know how we feel! YOU SHOULD NOT BE ALLOWED TO VOTE IF YOU CANNOT READ THE ENGLISH BALLOT! AND NO REDISTRICTING TO FAVOR NON -ENGLISH SPEAKING DISTRICTS!!
