Soldiers Rally To Help D-Day Veteran

FORT CAMPBELL, KY.- It's a code among soldiers: never leave another behind and now, the 101st Airborne Division Association is asking it's members and veterans to help one of their own.

Ninety year old Bob Strait, a former Screaming Eagle and D-Day veteran was critically wounded during a brutal home invasion robbery in Tulsa last month. His wife of 65 years, Nancy died of her injuries.

Tyrone Woodfork has been charged with first-degree murder, burglary, assault, and armed robbery in the case. 

Bob Strait remains in hospice care. The 101st Airborne Association hopes its members and others hope to help, by donating to the Nancy Strait and Bob Strait Support Trust.

Those wishing to donate to the Nancy and Bob Strait Support Trust at the Arvest Bank Tulsa branch can mail a check to 502 S. Main St Tulsa, Oklahoma 74103. Please include on the check's memo line that is for the Straits' account. Also include a note that specifies the donation is for the Nancy Strait and Bob Strait Trust Support.

Joe It's dfamned well worth a try.  Why don't you get the ball rolling? Lay out what the objectives are. maybe with recall petitions for those legislaters who hesitate to agree.Also you might want to bear in mind there are many of those returning from Iraq who are being trained in civilian crowd control.They may not be suitable.. But for sure it will take actions not words that will bring this nation back to Freedom.

Robert: There is only one way I can think of to get the job done properly and that mechanism has to be through groups of veterans ( thousands from each state) organized for one specific purpose and that of visiting their elected representatives all on the very same day in Washington, D.C. Advertising this Veterans Constitutional Reform March on Congress well in advance with all the major media outlets and putting the message across with each elected from each state up front and personal. If we must camp in Washington D.C. until we get the needed verbal commitments for constitutional reform from each one of our elected representatives to enact the necessary amendments to the constitution, so be it. No other group of Americans can accomplish this enormous task correctly from my humble perspective. Many of us have bled for our nations freedom and consequently understand more so than many Americans what is on the line here. Our cherished freedoms.

Right on Joe--But how do you propose we get this done outside of taking up arms,given the state of corruption in in this nation?? Voting will not do it.Ballots disappear, reappear and then there is a recount. Ive watched thisgame since Kennedy beat Nixon, Two precincts of votes disappeared in Chicago, if my memory serves me correctly. And given we have a nation of dumbed down citzens. If you have a way to get this done I would like to hear it. Sorry for being so pessimistic but when you have over 50% of the voting people in this nation who can not understand you can not continue to borrow 45 cents of every dollar the government spends without an economic collapse how does this get done with a vote?

A quote per Edward Gibbon. Viewing the dysfunctional nature of Congress at this point in time and for the greater good of the nation it may be necessary for the American people to enact a change to Articles 1 and 3 of the United States Constitution, and specifically mandate that no elected official in the House of Representatives or the Senate may hold office for more than two consecutive ( 2 ) year or four ( 4) year terms as similar to what has been established for the office of the President of the United States. In this way other qualified individuals will be able to secure a place in the Congress and hopefully maintain bi partisan accord to the benefit of the American people where in fact there is none achievable owing to the ingratiation of so many elected officials to special interests.

We have a mechanism for positive change in our political system. Put simply its called VOTING but if many Americans do not exercise this right and obligation, our country will continue to slide into the political and economic turmoil which is only to visible in this country as well as on the world stage. Politicians need to be controlled by the electorate and to do so it is obvious that it requires a change in their tenure. No more than two terms of service must be the law for all elected representatives as it is now set forth for the President of the United States. Vote out election day and force a motion through your elected representatives to change the tenure of elected representatives even though they will resist the idea with great effort. Its time for positive change in America and each American who can vote will be needed to accomplish this task in 2012.

There will be no more humiliating airport screening checks for members of the military returning from war in the Middle East under new legislation that passed the House Tuesday.

The bill passed 404-0 and requires the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) to create an expedited system within six months for all members of the U.S. armed forces as well as their families traveling with them on official orders.

Washington has always made promises to its Vets and then not kept them. I was told that I had 10 years from my date of separation to us my GI Bill education benifits only to have them taken away less than two years later. I had one semester left to complete my Associates degree. My father a Korean war vet had his story. I am sure may Vets have similar stories to tell of promises not kept.
