Mr. Cardinal’s FutilityMarch 12, 2012 by Bob Livingston Mr. Cardinal’s FutilityFor about three weeks, a cardinal has been attacking one of our office windows. From sunup to sundown he pecks at and flies against the pane, banging his head in an effort of abject futility. Whether he’s attacking his reflection or seeking to get inside, I do not know. Whatever, watching his mindlessly repetitive attempts made me think he’s a perfect metaphor for the average American voter (AAV).For years AAV has…See More

S&P Downgrade

Posted on August 6, 2011 at 9:58am 0 Comments

There is a lot of concern about the S&P downgrade, most of it hype. This will not compare to the effect on the dollar the trading partnership (BRIC) will have on our economy. Brazil,Russia,India And China have formed a trading partnership that will no longer use the dollar as the international trading currency..More nations are joining this partnership. The dollar will no longer be artificially propped up by other currencies with higher…

Unions

Are unions a monopoly? The Sherman Act was signed into law many years back and was the instrument that broke the strangle hold AT&T and standard Oil had on the nation. This law prevents Corporations from controling markets through monopoly. It gave rise to the tremendous growth in technology and competition in the marketplace leading to lower prices through competition  since that time. That Data is about five years old and I do not recall who made the study. It is possible to get the Federal Government out of our lives. It will depend on what comes from the coming election and who we get in the Presidency the following election. But for sure it will take both the legislative and executive branches to accomplish the task.I feel the Tea Party movement will be instrumental in bringing this about. If we can get constitutionalists elected into office. However we will have to carefully scrutinize those we endorse. No progressives in constitutionalists clothing.

Bob, I like what you said about decreasing our Federal Bureaucracy. Unfortunately, Federal power is gaining at the cost of the effectiveness of States. Where did you get your data on how much we will save if we decrease the size of The Government? I want to use it but do not want to be wrong.
