The chicken's have came home to roost.The deregulation of off shore drilling has become as big of a disaster as Three mile Island and Chernobyl and the Exxon Valdez.
I am heart broken when I know what will happen in the next 3 months to the gulf.
This is a far bigger threat to the nation that I love than Al Qaeda or illegal immigration on our southern boarders.
BP has proven that there is no way to insure that drilling a mile under the water is safe.There is no way to stop a blow out once one it starts under the sea.
We are the Saudi Arabia of Natural gas.The only thing stopping us from converting American cars to Natural Gas is the political will to do it.This is not Al Gore environmentalism.T Boone Pickens has been in the Oil and Natural gas business for over 50 years and he has a sound plain to convert the United States to Natural gas in 12 years.
BP has shown in Alaska and in Texas City Texas and now the Deep Water Horizon that they are felons.This is not just an environmental disaster it is an economic ones as well.Teddy Roosevelt put it this way " We are not just building our nation for just a day We are building it to last for the ages".
We have trusted BP and the Free market to put American wetlands above profits.And they have failed the true test miserably. The good people of the gulf need our help.Look at it this way. If a category 5 hurricane had just destroyed a city in your state and is now facing the largest ecological disaster in U S history.How would you feel.
We all need to do more than just pray.After 9/11 Americans were unified as one.Louisiana and the Gulf deserve no less
