Connect with The Tea Party!
I have been actively involved in the political spectrum for about 3 years now. Thirty-five years ago I tried to get involved but when I saw how corrupt and self-serving the process was I gave up. I registered as an Independent with the hopes that being an Independent would insulate me from the corruption, self-serving politicians, and the evil that pervades both parties. I was sadly mistaken. In that 35 years nothing has improved. Now, 35 years later, I find our Republic in the death throes of dictatorship and people in both political parties working together to enslave We the People. Sadly much of this is my fault because I chose to ignore it in the hope it would go away. It didn’t go away but instead has become much more of a problem and much more of a danger. I re-registered as a Republican just after the 2008 elections that saw John McCain, and the Republican Party machine, surrender my nation to the most radical thing that has ever sat in the White House.

Term limits are still the best answer to curb corruption at any level. In my own home town we have had the same Mayor for several years. Once someone establishes their place of power it becomes ever increasingly difficult to rock the boat as a political advocate or rival. We see what Rick Santorum's choices of the past with Arlen Specter have lead to. The longer a politician at any level is left to make allies in order to extend their careers their decision making for the people becomes compromised. If politicians were not concerned with furthering their tenure in office they would be less likely to make decisions for themselves and more likely to make decisions based on the needs of the people they represent.
Council persons not wishing to rock the boat in local government may tend to let transgressions of the mayor slide in order to preserve their political careers. Political careers should not exist, unless the individual is working their way up the political ladder. Having the same Mayor or council persons for multiple terms is detrimental to local government as it is for national government. Too often, these individuals are faced with decisions that will either further their careers or choose the right decision for their constituents. We see more often than not these officials choosing to make the decision to prolong their careers instead of making the right decision. With all these ill fated choices the politicians now have left themselves open to be subjected to out side influences in their decision making process, ie Rick Santorum. He chose to go against his beliefs and support the pro abortionist Specter in hope of furthering his political career. In the end he was outed by the Christian right who remembered that decision and then both he and Spector were voted out of office. Had Santorum not been placed in that position he would have held to his beliefs and he may not have spent but two terms in office, but he would have the full support of the Christian right in this election and be doing much better in his presidential bid. The best saying in politics, "Politics makes for strange bedfellows." In my opinion it should not, candidates should hold true to their convictions and not be lured into extending their careers by compromising their beliefs in order to get re elected.
Comment by Bob Russell, Moderator on December 30, 2011 at 9:25pm Kelly, read more carefully and read the entire article. The corruption I am talking about here isn't politicians. This is about party officials at the state, district, and county levels. This problem came from candidate's campaign workers and party officials not the politicians themselves.
Comment by Kelly Wayne Jerome on December 30, 2011 at 9:17pm Term limits will help curb the corruption. With less time in office and not having to worry about funding for the next election, candidates can concentrate on doing the right things for their people instead of doing the things that will financially benefit them getting re elected. It's so simple, but yet we will never get it done. The big companies and special interest groups will block it. "Cause what we need is 40 years of Ted Kennedy doing absolutely nothing, except costing tax payers more money in order to benefit his special interest groups and unions in order to get re elected.
Term limits are the only answer.
Comment by Bob Norman on December 28, 2011 at 12:25pm Exactly! Thats where I'm at also!
Comment by Bob Russell, Moderator on December 28, 2011 at 12:06pm Bob, I agree. I don't buy any newspapers and don't watch network news, including FOX, as they can't be trusted. I also refuse to support "anyone but Obama" as that attitude got us whre we are today.
Comment by Bob Norman on December 28, 2011 at 11:31am People need to quit supporting MSM as much as possible. The only thing that will change them is their wallet. I'm amazed newspapers are still holding on.
I think the third party is needed, the sooner the better, they aren't about to change, they will have to give up power and thats the last thing they will give up. I'm tired of the argument, go along until after the election, we go through that same hoop every election and nothing changes. I say crash the party, so there is nothing for these people to hang onto.
Comment by Bob Russell, Moderator on December 28, 2011 at 10:32am Ind 1000, the media, both left and right are an issue but I can't do anything about them other than rebut their slime in writing. My main concern is that both political parties are working aginst We the People and I can affect that, at least I think I can. I will do my best to change the Republicrat Part back to the Republican Party. If that fails then the TEA Party is our best chance. I will work for freedom within the party and encourage others to join in the fight.
I beieve that both of you have a good reason to be disgusted and concerned about the "Good Old Boys" GOP that still seem to be trying to pick a candidate for the rest of us. But, it occurred to me we have even more of a serious problem with the main stream liberal media doing exactly that same thing, only they want to destory every one of our candidates. My focus is on how the left wing media wants to destroy the credibility of ALL of our candidates and at the same time NEVER has anything negative to say about Obama, our President. The left wing media is not just a little bias...........it is off the ball bias and has been for the last three years.
You don't even get half of the news from the left wing media, there are only a couple of media outlets where you can get ALL of the news, including news that you just don't see on any of the LWM............We cannot allow the media to pick our candidates either.
Comment by Bob Norman on December 28, 2011 at 9:05am Sounds good Bob, Be the splinter in their eye, finger or whatever, the party bosses are making bad decisions so its time they get replaced also.
Comment by Bob Russell, Moderator on December 27, 2011 at 11:45pm I was told the person running the straw pole was considering steeping down from her county position, that this had been discussed and it was behind us. That isn't good enough for me. Letting it go would make me as guilty as those causing the problem. As I said, I don't know those involved so I am questioning their judgement more than anything else but at the very least we need better judgement and tighter control over ethics. I have been told that what they did isn't technically against any rules or any law but that is beside the point to me. The rules need to be strenghtened and better decisons made if we are to restore confidence of the people. I intend to work towards that goal before I get too concerned about beating demoncrats. The old splinter/log in the eye thing.
