K Rex,
Where the hell were the Marines? Why in the hell did you send them home?
Those are just a few of my questions for Barack Obama about the tragic situation in Libya where four Americans - including our U.S. Ambassador - were murdered by radical jihadists.
As you can see I’m outraged about this entire situation.
I’m outraged that the 16-person security team assigned to protect our Ambassador was sent home, and there were no uniformed Marines guarding him.
I’m outraged that the DC-3 plane that could have helped get people out of the country was taken away before the attacks.
And I’m very outraged that four days later, the State Department spent $108,000 buying a new electrical charging station to green up the Vienna embassy.
Is the “green initiative” or so-called “global warming” more important than the security of an embassy?
I understand those are strong words.
But the loss of precious American life is not something I take lightly.
That’s why I’ve been talking a lot lately about the BILLIONS of taxpayer dollars we’re sending to Anti-American regimes overseas.
I believe it's just plain wrong that the American people are forced to subsidize countries who show us contempt.
As I’m sure you remember, just before the Senate shut down for the upcoming elections, I held a filibuster on my bill to stop taxpayer dollars from flowing to Libya, Pakistan, and Egypt.
But my bill wouldn’t have just stopped the foreign aid.
It would have used that money for deficit reduction and a veterans’ job bill to help American troops returning home from overseas.
Some of my Republican colleagues in the Senate may disagree, but I believe reducing the deficit and helping our brave men and women serving our country should be a higher priority than taxpayer handouts to Libya, Pakistan, and Egypt.
Of course, right now I’m sure you’re focused on the upcoming November 6 General Election. I am too.
In fact, I’ve been campaigning for conservative candidates across the country over the past few weeks.
And RAND PAC is running hard-hitting TV ads against incumbent Democrat Senators who voted against my bill in several key races.
But the election will be over on November 7 – and the looming lame duck session of Congress is on the horizon.
My staff and I are feverishly preparing for the upcoming fights guaranteed to take place during lame duck.
But we’re not just preparing for defensive fights.
I’m going to lead the fight over sending billions of taxpayer dollars to our enemies overseas during the lame duck session of Congress.
In the next few days, I’ll be contacting you with more specific details about my plan.
But I wanted to take a moment and remind you of the looming lame duck session on the horizon - and let you know I’m counting on you to stand up for American values and American taxpayers with me.
In liberty,
Rand Paul
