Unbelievable

Energy Secretary Steven Chu told a House panel Tuesday that he’d give himself  top marks when asked to grade his policies’ effects on energy prices. Rep. Darrell Issa, the chairman of the House committee on Oversight and Government Reform, asked President Obama’s top energy official if he’d grade himself with an “A minus” on “controlling the cost of gasoline at the pump.”

Chu responded by saying he’d give himself a better grade than that.

“The tools we have at our disposal are limited, but I would I say I would  give myself a little higher in that since I became Secretary of Energy, I’ve  been doing everything I can to get long-term solutions,”

The problem is twofold…I believe in his and the former Jr. Senator from Illinois, that he in fact, in their eyes deserves a better grade. I wish that after that response there should have been a follow-up question.

Mr. Chu, you are giving yourself a grade of A for doing everything you can to get long-term solutions you said.  Mr. Chu, today, we now know we have in the continental United States over 200 years of energy resources, NATURAL energy resources….we need solution for TODAY not for a problem we are going to have 200 years from NOW! Do you really thing under the current economic circumstances we find ourselves in that you should be “doing everything you can do to get long term solutions? And second as I understand your perspective, you believe we need higher gas prices so we can reduce our consumption of gasoline. So by your standards I can see where you would give yourself an A, I Sir give you an F. An F for failure to address the problem we have today while at the same time frittering away hard earned taxpayer dollars on an unproven alternative energy that we will not need for a couple of hundred years from NOW. Yes,…. you Sir get an F!
